  • ACC Represented Coast to Coast!

    It was a busy week for ACC as staff participated in high-level airport development events across the country. ACC President T.J. Schulz moderated a panel discussion on procurement practices at the Airports P3 Summit in San Diego. ACC Board Chair Roddy Boggus with Suffolk participated in the P3 procurement panel and joined Schulz and Matt Griffin in welcoming a number of guests at the ACC booth. Over 900 delegates attended the conference. In Miami, Colleen Flood and Daniel Jagdmann joined hundreds of colleagues at the Florida Airports Council Annual Conference, where they met up with a number of ACC members and other industry officials. 

  • ACC and TSA Host Record-Setting Security Capabilities Workshop

    A record-setting number of 250 participants joined the Airport Consultants Council (ACC) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for the ninth annual Security Capabilities Workshop last week in Washington, D.C. Industry experts and representatives from the TSA and Department of Homeland Security shared upcoming initiatives, global security trends, and insight into the TSA’s recent reorganization and future security initiatives. Attendees also had the opportunity to engage face-to-face with the TSA in smaller, interactive roundtable sessions. 

    ACC would like to extend a special thank you to Michael Saunders of General Dynamics Missions Systems, ACC Security Committee Chair and Robin Baughman, VTC, ACC Security Committee Vice Chair, for their hard work in organizing the event. ACC would also like to thank Robyn Peters and Melissa Conley of the TSA for assisting in the event’s organization.   • ACC Young Professionals Meet in Downtown Chicago for Regional Meet-Up

    The ACC Young Professionals Forum held the most recent Regional Meet-Up in Downtown Chicago on July 18, 2017.  The event, organized by Sarah Contreras, Chris Groh, Adam Hardy and Connor Maldonato, hosted over 30 participants interested in networking and learning from their airport development peers.  The ACC YPs would like to extend a thank you to Kimley-Horn and Landrum & Brown for sponsoring the Chicago Meet-Up. The next ACC YP Forum Regional Meet-Up will be held in the San Francisco Bay Area on August 3, 2017.  

  • ACC Young Professionals Forum Hosts Second Regional Meet-Up in Washington, D.C.

    The ACC YP Forum held their second Regional Meet-Up in the DC/Maryland/Virginia area in conjunction with the 2017 ACC Airports Technical Workshop.  Over 30 attendees participated, including a number of mentors and associates that engaged and networked with the YPs.  An overall success, the YP Forum looks forward to holding Regional Meet-Ups across the nation on a consistent basis.  The next event will be located in Chicago on July 18, 2017.  A special thank you to YP Forum Lead Sri Kumar and Connico, Inc. for planning and hosting the event. 

  • FAA and Industry Share Best Practices at the 2017 ACC Airports Technical Workshop

    Up to 20 FAA officials joined ACC members at the 2017 Airports Technical Workshop last week in Arlington, Virginia.   The event was well-attended across two days, and included a number of technical sessions that featured FAA decision makers and industry subject matter experts.  Participants engaged in roundtable discussions on new and pending Advisory Circulars, guidelines, regulations and legislation that might affect airport planning, environmental permitting and engineering.  Thank you to our sponsors, Mead & Hunt, HMMH, and Airport Improvement for assisting ACC to throw a successful workshop.  We look forward to next year!

  • ACC Hosts Successful Construction Summit

    ACC, the Airports Council International – North America and the Associated General Contractors of America wrapped up the third annual Airport Construction Strategy Summit last week in Los Angeles, CA. The ongoing work at LAX was prominently discussed given the location of the event, along with other airport projects and best practices across the country. Sessions discussed DBE/MBE/WBE involvement, project leadership, and the ongoing infrastructure debate taking place in Washington, D.C. Airport sponsors, consultants, and contractors explored their collective roles in the successful outcome of large projects. The open discussion the event provides was welcome, and the event organizers are planning on holding this event again next year in the late spring.

  • ACC Young Professionals Forum Holds First Regional Meet-Up in the Greater L.A. Area

    The ACC Young Professionals Forum held their first regional meet-up last week, thanks to the sponsorship of HNTB. Almost 20 members in the greater Los Angeles area gathered to network. A goal this year of the YP Forum leadership is to grow these types of events around the country and offer members an opportunity to meet peers in their region. The next event will be held later in June as part of the ACC Airports Technical Workshop on June 21-22 in Arlington, VA. Special thanks to Jennie Santoro and HNTB for planning and hosting the event. 

  • ACC Discusses Partnering on Airport Projects

    ACC President T.J. Schulz moderated a panel discussion of industry experts that explored the use of facilitated partnering for airport projects.  The session was held on May 19 at the International Partnering Institute (IPI) Collaboration 2017 Conference in San Francisco, and included panelists Roddy Boggus, Executive Vice President of Aviation, Suffolk, and ACC Board Chair; Duane Boreham, Vice President, Aviation Group, Q&D Construction; Kevin Bumen, Director of Airports, San Luis Obispo County; and Judy Ross, Deputy Director, Planning & Development, Mineta San Jose International Airport.  The panelists discussed the benefits of using facilitated partnering for airport projects, how to gain support and integrate partnering into projects, and future prospects for partnering in aviation.
