Arlington, VA - The
Airport Consultants Council (ACC) was pleased to present the annual ACC
Agency Best Practices Award to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
at an awards luncheon during the ACC/FAA/TSA Summer Workshop Series on
Wednesday, July 14, 2010. The FAA was selected in recognition of its effective and
efficient distribution of $1.1 billion in grant funding under the
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
This award acknowledges the
FAA’s role in both preparing for and administering ARRA grants.
FAA’s achievement was a model effort in streamlining, as the FAA
obligated half of the $1.1 billion in airport grants within the initial
120 day timeframe, obligated the remainder by February 11, 2010 and
designated the last airport Recovery Act grant by December 30, 2009
– a full six weeks before the deadline set by Congress. FAA
exceeded other DOT agencies in outlays for ARRA projects.
“The FAA Regions and ADOs
played major roles in this achievement and I heartily congratulate them,
along with those at Headquarters” said ACC President Paula
Hochstetler. “FAA provided the essential leadership and, working
with airports and the private sector, executed a program that helped to
sustain jobs, promote job growth, and improve airport facilities at a
critical time in our Nation’s history.”
The ACC Agency Best Practices
Award is awarded to individuals or groups of individuals within
