FAA Environmental Specialist Melisky and TSA Airport Policy Branch Manager Cammaroto Honored as Recipients of ACC Agency Best Practices Award

Washington D.C. - The Airport Consultants Council (ACC) is proud to announce the two recipients of its prestigious 2008 ACC Agency Best Practices Award: Edward Melisky, with the Federal Aviation Administration,and Robert J. Cammaroto of the Transportation Security Administration. The Awards were presented at the annual ACC/FAA/TSA Summer Workshop Series during a luncheon on July 10, 2008.   The Award recognizes excellence in individuals, teams or organizations that work closely with the airport consultant community.Edward Melisky

The membership of ACC believes that industry partners play a fundamental role in each and every project. When selecting the Award recipients, ACC considers those who have shown a spirit for streamlining, a dedication to teamwork and an unwavering commitment to all stakeholders. Partners who are flexible when circumstances require it, and highly regarded as experienced and knowledgeable resources, are also recognized during the selection process.    

Mr. Melisky is an Environmental Specialist in the FAA’s Airport Planning and Environmental Division in Washington, D.C. He was selected as a recipient for the award due to his dedication for promoting exemplary environmental policies within the aviation industry. Melisky has been a regular contributor at industry conferences and workshops in the area of environmental policy.  He played a key role in FAA’s preparation of “NEPA Implementing Instructions for Airports” and authored FAA’s Order 1050 entitled, “Environmental Impacts: Policies and Procedures.” Melisky holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Pittsburgh, and Masters in Biology degree from the University of Maryland. 

ImageMr. Cammaroto is the first-ever TSA employee to be honored with the award. He has long served as an advocate for collaborating with the aviation industry and has been instrumental in developing a cohesive set of standards and policies. Cammaroto was recognized for his ability to understand operational consequences and take a common sense approach to security. Prior to joining TSA, he played a key role at FAA in developing airport security guidance, and also previously served as a fireman, an air traffic controller and a Federal Air Marshal.  He earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees from the State University of New York, where he studied Political Science and Public Policy Analysis.

The Airport Consultants Council (ACC) is the international trade association that represents the unique interests of consultant firms and related businesses that provide airport development and operations expertise. Founded in 1978, ACC Headquarters is located in the Washington D.C. area.
