Industry Outreach
ACC has been invited to become a member of the Aviation
Sector Coordinating Council (ASCC) whose purpose is to serve as a
policy-level interface with the Department of Homeland Security. For

ACC staff attended the U.S. Chamber of Commerce 7th
Annual Aviation Summit titled "Aviation's New Plan: Innovation,
Adaptation, and Consolidation" in Washington, DC.
ACC was among a select group of aviation associations
that attended a media event at the headquarters of USA Today to discuss
current issues with the paper's aviation journalists.
ACC and the British Airports Group (BAG), an association
of airport consultants in the U.K., identified ways to enhance interface
and partnership. ACC will attend a June 19 meeting of the BAG and
provide remarks to their membership. BAG representatives tentatively
plan to attend ACC's Annual Conference in November.
At the FAA Eastern Region Conference, Paula Hochstetler
provided the keynote address for the luncheon where she discussed
the soon to be released update of the ACC/FAA Best Practices document
and issues surrounding the recruitment and retention of qualified
aviation professionals. Click

Protecting QBS - ACC successfully intervened and
addendums were released for three RFQs that requested price information
in April.
FAA Reauthorization
ACC joined ACEC, ARBTA, AIA and ASCE in meetings with Senate offices
in support of including an amendment in the Senate FAA reauthorization
proposal that would require the use of QBS for PFC-funded projects. ACC
also sent letters to Senate leadership regarding a QBS amendment.
ACC informed members on the FAA reauthorization bill in the U.S.
Senate in an ACC Legislative News titled Senate May Proceed with
Consideration of FAA Reauthorization Proposal This Week (LN-08-05).
Members received information from ACC on the Federal Aviation
Administration issuing general guidance that details how the Airports
Office will administer Airport Improvement Program grants through June
30, 2008 (RN-08-01).
ACC members met with the top staff of the House Aviation
Subcommittee, Senate Aviation Subcommittee and the Senate Finance
Committee to discuss the delay in passing an FAA reauthorization bill.
ACC members discussed impacts the delay was having on airport capital
programs and the consulting community, and received briefings on the
latest deliberations taking place on the reauthorization
