Facility/Terminal Planner (Chicago, IL)

Landrum & Brown, a nationally and internationally recognized leader in aviation and airport consulting, is currently seeking a Facility/Terminal Planner to join the expanding planning team in our Chicago, IL office.
We are seeking a self-motivated, driven individual with strong written, verbal, and graphic communication skills with a background in planning, architecture and/or engineering to help us bring innovative airport solutions to the aviation industry.
The successful candidate will work under the guidance of Senior Terminal/Facility Planners and support other staff in conducting analyses and preparing project deliverables.  Occasional air travel to our airport clients and between our U.S. and other offices is possible.


Develop, refine, and evaluate alternatives for passenger terminal, airfield, AC parking layouts, apron planning, cargo and support facilities and landside facilities
Develop programmatic requirements for medium and large hub airports 
Develop  facility phasing/implementation plans
Support terminal and facility planning studies by developing written reports, graphics, and presentations
Coordinate with clients, sub-consultants, and key stakeholders to achieve projects goals and objectives
Provide on-site client support and assist in planning/design charrettes and facility surveys
Assist with facility condition assessments and other facility planning tasks

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s and/ or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Transportation Planning, or related degree is required.
Approximately five (5) years of progressively increasing responsibility relative to airport terminal planning, architecture, infrastructure, and development of airport facility expansion or modifications concepts
Understanding of airport passenger flows and baggage operations, and other critical systems

Preferred Skills and Technical Expertise

Advanced capabilities in AutoCAD and Revit
Advanced capabilities in SketchUp or comparable 3D modeling software
Workability in Adobe Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
Workability in PathPlanner or comparable gate planning software
Workability in Microsoft Word, Excel and Project
Familiarity with FAA Advisory Circulars
Familiarity with IATA ADRM design criteria

Noise Specialist/Environmental Project Manager

HNTB is seeking a Noise Specialist/Environmental Project Manager in our Virginia offices.
Responsible for formulating and conducting transportation noise studies in an efficient manner and formulating results in a concise, well-written document. Requires knowledge of statistics, aviation, highway and transit-related noise analysis and computer programming. Must be knowledgeable of aviation systems and experienced in analyzing data used to perform environmental analysis of aircraft noise, as well as highway and transit projects.

Ideal candidate is proficient in using FAA, FHWA and FTA noise modeling tools, INM, AEDT, TNM, and transit noise and vibration impact assessment.  
  • Responsible for the coordination of administrative aspects to ensure projects assigned are completed within the schedule, on budget, and to the client’s satisfaction.
  • Serves as primary point-of-contact with client and project consultants.
  • Estimates fees, determines work scope and prepares proposals and contracts for small-scale projects.
